Challenge
The motorway improvements programme required a robust understanding of how infrastructure assets would perform over their design life. Transport Scotland and its delivery partners needed confidence that maintenance strategies and whole life costs were optimised and risk-informed.
Solution
Floreer built bespoke asset performance models incorporating probabilistic risk analysis. These models captured degradation profiles, maintenance intervention scenarios, and associated cost distributions. Floreer worked closely with engineering teams to calibrate inputs and validate outputs against real-world asset data.
Outcome
The models enabled the project team to make evidence-based decisions on maintenance strategies, optimising whole life costs while maintaining asset performance standards. Transport Scotland gained a reusable modelling framework that could be applied to future programmes.
